Abstract
Accurate and complete measurement of client behavior is critical to the success of programming. As technicians advance in their roles, they take on greater responsibility in measuring client and staff behavior, calibrating measurement systems, and troubleshooting. They also assume a larger role in collecting data on procedural integrity, interobserver agreement, rating scales.Their role also increases in protecting client data. This course bundle reviews foundational measurement concepts. It provides scenario-based practice to apply direct and indirect measurement procedures across a range of behaviors and situations.

Learning Checklist
Operationally define the target behavior before measuring or collecting data.
Apply direct measurement methods such as frequency, rate, duration, latency, interresponse time (IRT), trial by trial/percent of opportunity, accuracy, narrative (topography), and discrete categorization.
Apply indirect measurement methods such as permanent products, interviews, rating scales, and questionnaires.
Apply time-sampling methods such as whole-interval recording, partial-interval recording, momentary time sampling, and planned activity check (PLACHECK).
Ensure data integrity by minimizing risks of subjectivity, collecting the right form of interobserver agreement (IOA; e.g., total count, exact count per interval, trial by trial), treatment integrity, and storing data securely.
